Air-Britain Photo Competition

Air-Britain ran a digital photographic competition for its members from 2016 to 2020. Prior to that prints and slides were used for judging submissions. With Covid restrictions on attending events and locations it severely restricted the potential for entries in 2021 and so no competition took place.

In 2022, the team who had previously run the event considered that they wished to step down due to other Air-Britain and personal priorities. As no replacements could be found, the event has not taken place since. Should a small group (5 or 6) wish to organise it again then they should contact vacancies@air-britain.com with their proposal.

With the recent incursion at Stansted, an important message from the Stansted PoliceThe police will be increasing their patrols around the northern fence line in an effort to prevent a repetition of the incursion on Thursday and as such you may well be asked to give your reason for being there, normally plane watching will be accepted as a valid reason but you may be asked to give proof of identity. If you are a Planewatch member then wearing your lanyard and card is a good idea. There is a strong belief that these protestors may use the cover of plane watching to assist their attempts to breach the security. They have no intention of stopping us from using the northern fence line at present but there may be occasions when they will ask you to leave for security reasons for a short while so please comply with any such requests (it's happened to me before now because of a sensitive flight, the next day it was back to normal). The police regard our presence and feedback as a useful source of information. Please remember that the northside business park is out of bounds to enthusiasts so stay out, that is also being patrolled regularly. We are also requested to report anything suspicious particularly if someone with a rucksack or similar is hanging about but not showing much interest in aircraft as we would. The number is on the attached sheet. It is manned continuously so you should get an instant answer. They would much rather have false alarms than somebody breach the fence because we were reluctant to report suspicious behaviour. Thanks for reading this far and please keep the telephone number or the document on your phone. ... See MoreSee Less
